This is the area where I impart my wisdom about politics, international relations, and the state of the world in general. No, I am not deluded enough to imagine this matters much to anyone.

Zell is a war-time Democrat

Senator Miller's speech was absolutely unbelievable. The question shouldn't be: why was he speaking at the Republican Convention, it should be: Why WASN'T he accepting the Democratic Nomination. Miller laid out a winning democratic platform. He recalled the democractic foriegn policy of Roosevelt and Truman, in a total rejection of the current limp-wristed democratic stance today. I doubt there are many Democrats out there reading me, but if there are call the DNC and demand a 2008 Miller/Obama ticket. Cause that would be a winner. (never gonna happen.)

Miller said as a Democrats what all Republicans think, (but because they are Republican can't be taken seriously by the Democrats) And that is that the Democrats have totally surrendered their foriegn policy to the far left and it was a mistake they could seriously pay for. (that being said I would argue that for too long the Republicans have surrendered their Domestic agenda to their extreme wing.)

That's the funny thing about American Politics. Moderate-wings of the parties gather votes and win elections Its a fact. Its why every convention goes moderate at their convention. (as the other party points out in derision rather stupidly) But the extremist wings PAY for those elections. Its part of what makes the joke that Campaign Finance laws are so unfunny.

The vital questions that both these parties have to answer is: IS THIS A WAR-TIME ELECTION, or is it NOT?

If it is than bi-partisan displays, moderate domestic policy , and support for the military are going to determine the winners.

I think that both campaigns right now are running on the belief that the citizenry believe that this is a war-time period. However in this effort I think that Bush campaign has excelled and the Kerry campaign has been very weak. That's not based on whether I want Kerry to win (I don't) but on the manner in which they've "played the game" so to speak.
