Another Winner from Hitchens
Hurray for Peace and Multilateralism.
Hitchens nails it once again in pointing out that being anti-intervention means, ultimately, being pro-status quo. And when that status quo is the systematic oppression and annhilation of another group of people, as only the modern dictatorship is capable, you become culpable. Of course there are those who will claim we were unable to intervene in Darfur because of our involvement in Iraq. I don't accept that assumption. For starter's I don't think it would have taken much puntative action to halt the genocide. Also if it was apparent that the move had internal US support, I think our "allies" would be more inclined to intervene as well.
So, at any rate, congratulations to the descendents of Munich, for another appeasement well done.
