About Me
This is the area where I impart my wisdom about politics, international relations, and the state of the world in general. No, I am not deluded enough to imagine this matters much to anyone.

Can't Change Tire
After quite a bit of effort, I have failed to change a flat tire. It is now 6:04, and I am awaiting the arrival of Triple-A. They are lost.
I am not a real man.
The stunning realization that I am a Generation (fill in the blank) shmuck, totally incapable of the tasks which my forefathers consider routine is a worrisome thought. Heaven forbid I should have to protect my person, or hunt for food. There are no doubt vicious creatures of the wild licking their chops at this very moment, thinking of my deliciously weak, starving self, strewn across a rotting log, slowly dying of dehydration, while they move in for the kill.
I spent a good amount of time struggling with that four prong star shaped lug-nut thingie (I don't even know what its called), before my dad informed me that in all likelihood they won't come off until after you take off the hubcab.
I can't get the hubcap off either.
So instead, I called triple-A, to change the tire for me. Than I sat down to write a blog about my personal experience, about what a failure I am.
I am the future of America.
I need to be more like This:

Organized Opposition
Last night was the Rabun County Town Hall meeting. It was basically a forum against the so called Interstate-3 project.
The organizers of the opposition to the road say 178 people came out against the road, I guess that's possible. It seemed like a big crowd to me.
They had printouts, and fliers, and stickers cleverly featuring the symbol I-3 with a big X through it, as well as an "information table" featuring a whole bunch of "facts" on them acquired via the internet.
While I don't know if this Interstate is actually worthwhile, what I do know is that i despise organized opposition. It smacks of a sheep-like mentality, of rumor-mongering, and scare tactics. You can see this from the reliance on body counts. (178 people came out against it, so it must be wrong.)
My instinct is to immediately be on the otherside of any organized protest. Not, mind you, that I'm not for free speech, or protesting the idiocy our government can find itself attempting. But those who get my support are the lone nut holdouts, the individuals standing against the steamroller mentality of the majority, heroicly failing against the power of authority.

Until "Everything not Complusory is Forbidden"
I am losing my patience with alot of people this country. And on both sides of the so-called left/right. It seems like neither are interested in doing anything but regulating our lives in the most detailed and absurd fashion. Take for instance the flag-burning debate.
That was my boss's editorial for this weekend. Saying that burning the flag should be legal for reasons of free speech. Of course he gets some response, saying he's being disrespectful, and all the usually junk. For starters: (and get ready for capitalization cause this is important.
SUPPORTING THE RIGHT TO DO SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT THAN SUPPORTING THE THING ITSELF.
You have the right to burn the flag, as a symbolic freedom of speech indicating your displeasure, and anti-american/anti-american policy stance. Is it disrespectful? Yes it is. Does it dishonor our country and the men and women who've secured that freedom in this country? Yes it does. But just because you SHOULDN'T do something, doesn't mean that you need a law AGAINST it. Why must it be illegal for me to do things, just because they are asinine?
The same thing goes for gay marriage. If you think that homosexuality is a sin, that's fine. Perhaps when judgement day comes, the Adam and Steves of the world will get what they've got coming. But do we need to embaress our constitution with an amendment to prevent something, just cause we think its immoral?
The Right needs to understand that your rights are not defined by their morality, they are defined by the constitution.
The Left shouldn't be smirking, they aren't any better. They are busy abolishing free speech anywhere it might hurt someone's feelings. Cause we all know John Madison and Alexander Hamilton were huge supporters of
Amendement LXIXI: The right not to be insulted by some ignorant yokel shall not be infringed.
Being a free society is a dirty, grubby business. It means seeing things you wish you didn't have to, and hearing things you'd rather people didn't say. But you're supposed to have the backbone to put up with it, so that you can enjoy your liberty to do the same.
