This is the area where I impart my wisdom about politics, international relations, and the state of the world in general. No, I am not deluded enough to imagine this matters much to anyone.

Random Thoughts...

Can't come up with an overarching post theme this morning, so i'll try to hit some of the notables.

My Favorite Webcomic Achewood nailed my thoughts about current events with this one today.

The Gates of Vienna think that it'll be civil war in Islamic Republic of Europe in the next few decades. After Reading Mark Steyn's "America Alone" over the weekend, I'm inclined to agree with them.

Meanwhile the Congress has put the cabash on those vicious, terror financing poker players. Idiots. This from the same congress which can't find a reason to keep felons from working in US Ports. I asked Senator Chambliss about that topic a couple weeks ago. (shameless plug here) Essentially, for those who don't feel like listening to the whole thing just to find it, He said the power of the Longshoremen's association was too great and they managed to kill an amendment which would have kept felons from working in secure areas. (guess which party the Longshoremen contribute the most to??) Tony Soprano would be proud.

Michelle Malkin points out there are 19 million pro-Jihadi muslims in Indonesia alone. (Indonesia is considered a "moderate islamic state.") Thank goodness for that massive majority of moderate muslims out there. But don't worry, they can't play poker on the internet now, so we're safe.

I’ve always thought you can’t legislate morals. I guess I was wrong.

And while gambling is a problem for lots and lots of people, you don't see the government trying to close down casinos anywhere else.

You know what the difference is don't you? Casinos in Vegas and everywhere else pay a percentage to the state and all pay federal taxes. The government is not getting a piece of the action, so outlaw them.

And the thing is...internet gambling encourages those that play to try it for real at a casino. They're cutting their own throats.
