Police March For Ray Bunn

The march is on Tuesday January 17, 2006 at 11:00am from the CNN center to the Fulton Co. Courthouse in Atlanta.
Courtesy the Georgia PBA:
In July 2002, former member and Atlanta officer, Ray Bunn, and his partner were attempting to arrest a suspect they witnessed breaking into a car at 3:30 a.m. The suspect fled and jumped into a waiting SUV. The get-away driver sped toward Officer Bunn in an attempt to run him down. As he was being struck and injured by the vehicle, he fired twice, killing the driver, who was in possession of cocaine, marijuana and stolen property.
Afterward, Officer Bunn continued to serve the citizens of Atlanta until his National Guard unit was deployed to Iraq. After returning, Ray left the city for a position with a State Department Contractor.
Now, after three years and for apparently political reasons only, the district attorney has succeeded in indicting Ray for murder after finding an "expert" from Colorado who is willing to dispute the findings of the GBI Crime Lab and department investigators.
Ray and his family would appreciate any contribution you can make to his legal defense fund. Checks should be mailed to:

British Soldier speaks out against Moral Superiority of Americans
Of course the British military doesn't know anything about moral superiority, since their military tradition is over 200 years of invading and ruling technologically inferior opponents versus the United States military tradition of liberating the downtrodden. So expect the Brits to be confused about something like fighting a war where you are morally superior to your enemy. (I can think of one notable exceptions for the Brits which proves the rule)
If our cultural "insensitivity", amounts to insitutional racism, it is preferable to the delicate and detailed "understanding" of the Europeans, which allows them to tolerate tyranny in the name of cultural differences. The insensitivity of Americans means we will not tolerate excuses for why "the people of X will never be free," because we understand... indeed the basis of our existence, is that the rights of people are not granted by their governing institutions, but innate.
He also is a critic of the optimisim of our fighting men and women. But you can't fault the British for being confused about optimisim. The Brits get more excited about their Dunkirks then their... well, I can't think of a good example of a british victory, but you know what I mean.
Oh.. Waterloo. But of course that was against the French.
The Brigadier's comments regarding our tactics are far more interesting and useful, and we should probably accept some of what he says, and adopt the tactics. After all, putting down insurgencies in a culturally different landscape is a British hallmark. But we shouldn't be ashamed because we do not wring our hands and worry, instead of recognizing that an enemy which seeks to restore the vicious tyranny of the Baathist regime, or install the even more vicious tyranny of Al-Qaeda regime is an enemy which must be defeated.

Helen Thomas (Sigh)
Now my boss here at the radio station (himself a former journalist) and I have differed over Bush's efforts to limit access to the White House before. (For instance moving certain reporters, like Thomas, to the rear, and booting others from the corps.) But take a look at the following transcript:
Q Does the President think that 120 people dying in Iraq,
after we're nearly three years into this war, is tolerable?
MR. McCLELLAN: The Iraqi people, Helen, have shown time and time again that they want to live in freedom. I think it's important to look at what took place in December. There are terrorists and Saddam loyalists -
Q Why are we there? Why are we killing people there?
MR. McCLELLAN: -- there are terrorists and Saddam loyalists --
because we're transforming the Middle East, and that will help us lay the foundations of peace for generations to come.
Q -- didn't ask you to do that, their country.MR. McCLELLAN: We were attacked on September 11th and --
Q We were not
attacked by Iraqis.
MR. McCLELLAN: I don't think we ever said we were.
But what we learned on that day was that this is not a law enforcement war we're engaged in. This is a war about the safety and security of the American people. It's not a law enforcement matter. It's a war. We are a nation at war. And this is a comprehensive effort that we're taking. We're not ignoring threats. We are confronting threats before it's too late. And that's what this President will --
Q You had none from Iraq.
MR. McCLELLAN: -- that's what this
President will continue to do because he knows his most important responsibility is protecting the American people. And spreading democracy in the broader Middle East is vital to our own nation's --
Q Don't do it by attacking an innocent country.
MR. McCLELLAN: -- vital to our own nation's security.
And the Iraqi people have shown they are deeply appreciative of the efforts that we have undertaken to remove a regime that was a threat and a destabilizing force in a dangerous region of the world. And we are going to change a troubled region for the better, and it will help lay the foundations of peace for generations to come.
That's not journalism. That's being argumentative and partisan. The exchange offered no new information, nor could it possibly have. The journalist (if you want to call her that) is spouting an opinion. She doesn't even have the common sense to spout it in the form of a question like her MSM collegues. All she did was waste her fellow journalist's time, since they, presumably, have real questions to ask, so as to actually inform their public.
A real journalist would ask a question such as:
Q On Iran -- well, they were follow-up, the other was follow-up -- when will the U.S. give up on diplomacy on Iran, and what other options are there?
is the Press Secretary going to want to answer that question? Of course not. But its at least a question.

Pat Robertson is a Jerk
Sharon is dying of a massive stroke, and Rev.Pat says, "That's what you get for being a statesman trying to find peace in a war torn region, Heretic!"
People who use their inane theocracy to justify the evil which behalfs others make me physically ill. If you want to believe that god ran you over with a bus, or gave you cancer because you are sinful, that's fine. But leave the rest of us out of it.
Of course this isn't first stupid thing Pat Robertson has said, and it won't be the last. The media jumped all over his suggestion that Hugo Chavez should be assassinated. I had no beef with that, Chavez is an aspiring leftist tyrant, who seeks with every word out of his mouth to undermine out nation.
Ariel Sharon was an ally, who'd been taking the fight to a radical islamist enemy we didn't even know we were fighting until 9/11. And he saw a way to find peace with moderate Palestinians, undermine the more radical factions, and maybe make some progress.
Cause Pat's God can't stand peace.

Atlanta Prefers Dead Cops to Law and Order
Let me explain, as best as I'm able. The sheer lunacy of the Fulton County District Attorney makes it difficult but I will do my best.
Three years ago, My brother, Raymond Bunn, and his partner, Terry Mulkey were part of the Atlanta Police Department's Zone 2 "Crime Reduction Unit." The purpose was to target particularly prolific crimes in the zone. in Zone 2, which includes the party area of Atlanta known as Buckhead, that crime is primarily vehicluar break-ins. While not undercover, the unit did often wear "plain clothes." On the night in question my brother was wearing blue pants, a black t-shirt featuring the word "POLICE" in bright yellow letters*, as well as his badge hanging around his neck. He was also wearing a standard issue utility belt/holster.
So one night, towards the end of their shift, Mulkey and my brother hear glass shattering, and spot a suspect by a parked car. They pull into the parking lot, with lights and sirens flashing... The suspect, flees to a Yukon Sports Utility Vehicle**. Ray and his partner get out, and move towards the vehicle, which accelerates towards them. He and his partner pull their weapons, (all the while identifying themselves as police officers) , and the vehicle stops.
My brother and his partner moved towards the vehicle with Ray moving towards the driver side, and his partner moving towards the passenger side, when the vehicle suddenly accelerated again, striking my brother at the knee. He fell towards the driver side of the vehicle, at which time he fired two rounds from his weapon at the driver of the vehicle. His report clearly states that he feared both that he would be pulled underneath the vehicle if he did nothing, and that his partner was also about to be hit.
For the record there was nothing preventing the SUV from turning left or right, or reversing in order to flee the scene. Heading directly at the officers was a choice.
The man who made that choice was the driver of the vehicle; Corey Ward, a young black man. The MSM has portrayed Ward as a young man, with good grades, looking forward to college, out on the town with his friends in his family's SUV. They have ignored the drugs and stolen property found in the vehicle (there are pictures of it), of his "friends" prior convictions for vehicular break ins. They have even completely falsified the reason for the stop, with the Atlanta Journal Constitution repeatedly referring to the reason for the stop as being a stolen vehicle. They have essential portrayed my brother for shooting Ward for "Driving while Black." No report filed by any of the police refers to anything about a stolen vehicle. The crime was a vehicular break in, WHICH WAS ACTIVELY OBSERVED BY POLICE.
The Circus came to town as Rev. Markel Hutchins, a "Civil Rights" protestor led marchs, and preyed on the Ward family's reasonable grief, and like hyenas smelling a fresh kill, The law firm of the late Johnnie Cochran filed a law suit on behalf of the deceased young man.
And now Fulton District Attorney Paul Howard has entered the fray. he sought, and got, indictments against Ray for Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Violation of the Oath of Office. My brother spent almost a week in jail awaiting bond, during which time his youngest son was born, and two Atlanta Police Officers were hit by a suspect fleeing in a vehicle who then attempted to back over one of them. The officers have said they didn't fire their weapons for fear of ending up like Ray, in jail for doing their jobs.
District Attorney Paul Howard dropped charges against the suspects, and.. even more sickening, granted them immunity in exchange for their testimony against the officer who tried to arrest them. We can not understand exactly why this is happening. the Georgia Bureau of Investigation declared the shoot a good one, and even Detective Carter, the Homicide investigator who testified at the grand jury for the District Attorney said he would call the shoot a good one. the DA called for a intermission, Carter took a payphone call at the courthouse, and moments later came back to reverse himself. If that doesn't make it clear that pressure is coming down to scapegoat my brother, than perhaps the fact that Carter was offered a job at the DA's office shortly after the investigation, which he bandied into a position with the FBI helps clear the matter.
I don't honestly believe that I have many readers. But I am begging for the help of those I do have. If you have any doubts about what I have said, his lawyers can confirm their authenticity for you. I have a contact number if you want it. For those of you who would like to contribute financially, a Legal Defense Fund has been set up at Wachovia. It is account # 2000027676758 under the name the Raymond Bunn Defense Fund.
Even if you aren't from Atlanta or even in Georgia, we need your help. It's the police that walk the line every night, often in areas that resemble Fallujah more than anything else. Can you sit back and watch as a rogue DA sides with the criminals over your protectors, till the police are too terrified of the consquences to do their jobs?
This is not a racial issue, whether Corey Ward was a good boy who made a single mistake, or a career criminal was irrelevant. Whether Ward was white, black or any other ethnicity made no difference. My brother shot a suspect wielding a two ton weapon which had already struck him, and possibly was striking his partner. The understandable grief of Ward's family is being exploited by political opportunists and an irresponsible MSM.
Please help.
NOTE:
* The Words on Ray's clothing were Silver Not Yellow. I apologize for the error.
** The SUV was a Tahoe, not a Yukon. Again, my mistake.
