Oath

“I hearby declare an oath that I absoutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty of whom, to which I have heretofore been subject or citizen. Iranian Wargames anything but..

This is Not a Game. When, not if, they block the strait, oil prices will skyrocket. Clearing those straits will require coordinated air strikes and naval manuevers on our part, being done within the tight confines of Gulf. (Troy, If you're reading
weigh in on the Naval implications)

(Iranian Revolutionary Guards)

This will be paired with ramped up attacks against forces in Iraq, and increased terrorist attacks against Israel, in an attempt to force them into a conflict, which can than be portayed as a defensive battle against "Zionism."

Like I said... when, not if.

The War we aren't fighting...

NRO Sums it up: (Courtesy RegimeChange Iran)

Ledeen says, rightly, that we are, and have been at war with Iran. Well, I guess they are at war with us, one should say, since we clearly aren't fighting back. Our failure to acknowledge this undermines the value of our invasion into Iraq to begin with. Overthrowing Saddam, and liberating Iraq allowed us to flank the Iranians, and split them from their Syrian allies. Now, as they pour across the border, either their Revolutionary Guard units, or their co-opted sunni and shiite terror units, and we sit around muttering about the "Iraqi Insurgency". It's not an Iraqi Insurgency, its an Iranian Insurgency We watch dumbfounded, as the UN lets Iran get away with advancing it's nuclear weapons program, (either bought off with access to oil, Seeking to create a diversion for their own strategic aims, simply incompetent, or wrought by internal divisions and self-hatred)

Things need to change. And soon.

Distress Signal

Calculated to Offend.. And a smashing success, I might add. Now I've always been against any law to prevent burning or otherwise dishonoring the american flag. A flag is a political symbol, and how you use it is political speech. That being said, symbols send messages, and strong messages. So I'm reading these High School "Students" loud and clear. Let's see if they can read me just as well.
That's the Zimmerman Telegram. It's almost a damn shame we intercepted it. Maybe they'd have gone for it, and we wouldn't have this problem now, cause they'd all be citizens already cause we'd have about 70 states.

And in case my political symbolism is more subtle than you can appreciate let me add one more.

The Siege of Vera Cruz

3/28/2006

I should have learned to Speak Spanish.

And I too could have an impact on my listeners.

Oh. By The way... My favorite excerpt...

'I told God that if he gave me an opportunity as a radio announcer, I was going to help my people," said Sotelo, who himself illegally crossed the border in the trunk of a car in 1986 and gained legal status a decade later. "I think we have to make sure the message went through to Washington, to let them know we're not criminals." '

YOU SNUCK ACROSS A BORDER IN THE TRUNK OF A CAR! Explain to me how that's not criminal? Last time I checked, you don't have to SNEAK when you aren't BREAKING THE LAW. In any other country in the world, I'm sure if you try to hide in the trunk of someone's car while coming across the border, the chances are you're going to get gunned down. People who know me know I don't get terribly excited about the immigration debate. But at least have the common decency to admit that you're breaking the law. If you honestly believe its an unjust law, than break it. But face the consquences. That's how civil disobedience works.

This is a Republic. It's supposed to operate under the Rule of Law, not the rule of The Baboon, The Boogeyman and Tweety Bird.

For our Spanish-Speaking Audience:

Y también podría tener un impacto en mis oyentes. Oh. A propósito...

Weighing in on Illegal Immigration

Everyone else Is doing it today, so I might as well bandwagon. How about a photoessay to start with.

Picture Courtesy of MichelleMalkin.Com She's got good coverage of the LA Pro-Illegal Immigration protests.

That third pictures only there cause the chick in the white was kinda cute. The LA Times by the way says there were more American flags at the protest than other flags. Course it failed to mention that they were on fire.

The only issue at stake here is the enforcement of the law. It is not economic. It is not racial or cultural. Those truly done a disservice are those who go out of there way to apply for legal immigration, who come here because they want to be Americans, want to take part in our great social experiment of freedom and opportunity. But that means responsibility too. Responsibility to pay taxes, to have documentation, to come here legally. Are there too many hoops to jump through to come through legally. Yes. Should that be streamlined Yes. Does that make it right to come illegally? No.

ABC is the epitome of GoodThink

Iraqi Documents Show Iraqi-Al-Qaeda Connection

Look at how the editor goes out of his way to dismiss the meaning of the Saddam-Bin Laden documents. The editors' note is almost the size of the rest of the article as the editor of ABC attempts to limit the impact OF HIS OWN DAMN STORY.

Congratulations to ABC News. They're the winners of This week's Goodthink award. They can't even enjoy their own successful news story, because god forbid, the information revealed may actually assist the United States, and more offensively, its President.

Afghan Christian Faces Death for Conversion and what it means

AP Coverage

So it looks like the Afghan government is seeking a way out of this, without tearing itself apart. Good for them.

But not good enough. This "Human Rights Commission" needs to be abolished immediately.

The failure of the State Department to aggressively condemn this whole thing is disgusting. I am crossing my fingers that private actions were taken. That's always possible, but I'm not hopeful. We were already pissed off at State because they can't figure out what exactly what America's policy is. No suprise. They are institutionally incompetent, filled with "realists" who think countries can be treated like trading cards or game pieces, instead of as being filled with people, who have ideas, beliefs, and who deserve to be free.

Clearly we face problems like this, because of our desire to form up governments so we can get the hell out of the line of fire. Fair enough. We forget after WWII that it took us a long time to "De-nazify" the country. We aren't making the same effort in Afghanistan and Iraq. So the islamists simply worm their way back into the new government.

We have two choices. We can either choose to believe that islamist extremism is a political idealogy, which we must combat, in the forum of ideas, and on the battlefield, as we did with both Nazism and Communism. That means we can't simply leave and say, "okay now form a government, any kind will do."

Otherwise we must be of the opinion that some how muslims are inherently incapable of desiring freedom and the Enlightment ideals. To do so would mean our destruction. Either we would be forced to conduct a war of civilizations, meaning the use of overwhelming force and extermination, (thus costing us our ideals and destroying our way of life), or we must surrender, which would mean our physical and ideological defeat.

A Berkley Study (Need I say More)

Scientist says Conservatives Were Whiny as Children

The study may be good psychology but its poor political science. The conclusion, that the whiny, clingy children need the comfort of dogma, and tradition, versus the "self-reliant" liberal kiddies, who are free to explore (free to explore, and therefore inevitably choosing to be liberals).

What kind of conservatives were they? Were they libertarians, anxious to remove the government "safety blanket"? were they neo-conservatives, seeking to utilize American power to "make the world safe for democracy", were they "the religious right" clinging to biblical verse and the embrace of a church congregation?

Were the liberals progressive, pro-drug legalization and gay rights? Were they socialists, seeking the loving embrace of a nationalized industry, and the comfort and security of labor unions with protected jobs? Were they protectionist "anti-globalization" activists fearful of the competition represented by the abilities of the third world to manufacture, faster, better and cheaper than the US?

Even if the study is accurate and quality science (and I'm suspicious) it still doesn't say anything, because "conservative" or "liberal" doesn't mean anything. They are nothing more than a convienent label for our two party system to slander their doppleganger opponent with, when in truth both parties are made up of a diverse quantity of often discordant and competing ideas, allied only to seek power but with no real loyalty to each other.

A little right wing political joke

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on US 95 south, just outside of Washington.Nothing is moving north or south Suddenly a man knocks on his window. The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What happened? What's the hold up?

"Terrorists have kidnapped Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton. They are asking for a $10 million ransom.Otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "on average how much is everyone giving?"

"About a gallon."

"... until the last phony pacifist has been strangled with the entrails of the last suicide-murderer."

A deliciously apt paraphrase from Volitare by Hitchens.

In this article, Hitchens takes a look at what would have been possible if the UN member states hadn't been at best cowardly, and at worst complicit in Saddam's regime.

Here Comes The Cavalry

I'm pleased to announce that my brother's case has been taken by the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.

Formed by some great legal minds who can see the travesty that the anti-law enforcement forces in this country have perpetrated. And they are a selected group that only takes on those cases where the officers under indictment were clearly in the right and operating properly.

The LELDF will help our family pick up much of the cost of an expensive defense, hopefully enough to compete with a rogue district attorney who uses the taxpayer's money to prosecute their protectors.

Of course this is by no means over, but hopefully this latest good news will at least even the score a little bit when this nonsense goes to court.

3/16/2006

"It is the policy of the United States to seek and support democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture...

... With the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world."

With the release of the National Security Strategy, its once again affirmed, the ONLY reason I'm a Bush supporter:

The man can't keep spending down to save his life,

He's too religious for my taste,

He's not charismatic,

He did manage to appoint two winning Supreme Court Justices but only with some help.

But, he understands two things:

1. We are at war with Islamic extremism, in a battle as crucial as the ones against fascism or communism.

2. Freedom must be on the offensive. We must be rolling back dictatorships, particularly in the Middle East. If we sit back in isolation, we will eventually be overwhelmed.

Those two issues should dictate our foreign policy, and so far it has. And where it hasn't, Bush should be called to the Carpet. I'm unpleased with the following:

DARFUR- Islamist Militias exterminating black africans with the government's help. Sudan, aka Osama's summer quarters in the 90s. Why do they deserve any slack? If we don't have the resources to intervene fully, than its time for the great allies the Democrats keep insisting we have. France, Germany, you didn't want to go to Iraq, but this one should be right up your alley. If I had my way, we'd dispatch a team of gunships, which would mow down the Janjaweed militias if they formed into groups larger than what would be necessary to play a hand of hearts. If that doesn't work for you, than do something else, but DO SOMETHING.

Danish Cartoon Jihad- Start firing some people at the State Department. Keep firing them until they understand that Freedom of Speech is unconditional.Freedom not to be offended is non-existent. Especially when the offense is coming from fabricated cartoons touted by extremist imans. A little Sammenhold please?

Iraq- Stop with the apologizing about WMDs. Start pointing out what everyone who pays attentions knows, and everyone else refuses to recognize. Our troops in Iraq have been ATTACKED BY WMDs. shells filled with Sarin and Mustard gas used as IEDs. Not often, but it has happened. And General Sada, a high ranking Iraqi air force commander is basically screaming to anyone who will listen (and only the NY Post will apparently) that Saddam took advantage of a humanitarian crisis to fly chemical and biological weapons to Syria.

Iran- 85 million to pip in communications into Iranian dissenters is a good start. But that's about how much the first day of airstrikes will cost, if we have to take out their nuclear weapons program. I think we can spare a little more for the Iranian opposition.

Middle Eastern Democracy (+Pakistan)- To play on our team you need to sign up for the full package. That means real opposition parties, free press, open societies. Now we don't need a bunch of HAMAS parties getting elected, but the regimes who've lined up to join in the war on terror need to be headed in the right direction. We've seen some positive results, but we need to keep a close eye on them.

In conclusion, Bush's National Security Policy is the right policy for the United States. Let's just make sure we stick to it.

These folks contacted me via email, about a concert they'll be putting on in support for Iranian Civil Rights. And while I personally put a stronger stress on the need to prevent nuclear weapons in Iran, this sort of attention on Iran's dictatorship could certainly not hurt.

Positive Stories about Iraq in the MSM?

Impossible.

But yet there it is... Amazing.

As If They Weren't ALREADY Causing us "Harm and Pain"

Iran Threatens America After Being Referred to Security Council

They may think they see fractures in our strength, but their clearly falling apart themselves. We've successfully pushed through a deal with India, their efforts at fostering civil war in Iraq have so far failed, and they are gonna get called to the carpet on their nuclear ambitions. Even Russia is not being as helpful to Iran as they have in the past. And while I don't believe that the UN will take any serious action (not while China, ever oil hungry, has the veto), it at least ratchets up the intensity of attention on Iran, and pressure on the Iranian regime, pressure which its subjects will feel, and take advantage of hopefully to undermine those who oppress them.

Update: On the subject of our move to close ranks with India, the Toronto Star of course objects.Good thing nobody in their right mind gives even one hair on their left buttcheek what a Canadian paper thinks about it.

Justice for Saddam

And its not even one of his larger crimes

I cannot imagine what nightmares and apparitions God,the fates and all the demons in hell reserve for a man like Ramsey Clark, who knowingly, purposefully sides with such an evil, just to take out his own unjustifiable displeasure with his own government.

Once again...

The Georgia State Senate has got it wrong. Our own State Senator Nancy Schaeffer, who has the unique skill of being wrong on pretty much every social issue which comes before her, was in full support of this recent stupidity.

I'm referring to Senate Bill 429, which recently passed, and requires that a woman recieve a sonogram before she may have an abortion. The goal, according to Schaeffer, is to save lives, since the logic is that a woman whose having an abortion won't want to have one, after she sees the little toes and whatever have you of the fetus. I don't think that will work, but okay.

My position on abortion is a little obscure. I'm pro-choice in a vague, unhappy sort of way. I don't believe abortion is a consitutional right, I think Roe vs. Wade is a constitutional absurdity. (I'm fairly certain there's no enumerated right to have a medical procedure which didn't exist in 1789) So while I agree that Georgia can pass a sonogram bill, and South Dakota can pass a ban, if they want to, I don't think they should want to, because its stupid, and its not going to work. Not to mention that all you manage to do is increase the number of people having babies who don't want them.

I find the pro-choice lobby completely absurd too. Their slavish devotion to false law is offensive, and I get a little bit uncomfortable when they refer to a fetus as a parasite (since it feeds off the mother.)

But that being said, the Pro-life lobby is just, if not more offensive, with their cookie cutter, religious condemnation.

Well, now that I've managed to offend you, no matter what your opinion on the subject, back to 429.

How does this law in anyway help? IF, (and its a big if as you can see), if the bill does work, and women have less abortions after seeing a sonogram, its working because you've legislated a form of psychological cruelty. That's not exactly the way I prefer my legislature to function. If they insist on doing something to restrict the practice of abortions in the state of Georgia (which I believe they have the legal authority to do, although I do not think they necessarily should) this was definetely not the move to make.

NJ is Completely and Utterly Wrong

New Jersey to Appoint Itself Internet Gestapo

This is completely absurd. For starters, rulings in courts uphold the concept that forums and blogs are constitutional protected by the first amendment. Secondly, there is no indication that freely protected speech must be made with the speakers identity being revealed. In a non-internet parallel, that would be like requiring every member of a demonstration to sign government documents indicating their name, telephone number and home of residence. Clearly not something the Courts would EVER require.

You can argue that this applies only to defamatory or slanderous speech, but this too is absurd. To be libelous and/or slanderous, speech must be held to be both known to be false, and intentionally malicious, and have had a real effect upon the reputation of the supposedly slandered. It has been clear that parody, satire, tabloids which feature Bat-Boy, and other similar methods of speech are rarely punishable under libel laws, because they do not have any substantial effect on a person's reputation. Similarly, any post which is made anonymously, on a forum, by "SxyChic18" (or whoever) is clearly seen as the singluarly held opinion of that one, anonymous individual, and of substantially reduced weight as a result.

And who died and made the New Jersey State Assembly Lord of the Internet? How does their state law in anyway impact upon myself, who does not reside in New Jersey? Am I to believe, that I am to be held to account by a law passed by law-makers with whom I have no redress, nor any vote, when I have not, in any way, entered into their jurisdiction in terra firma? Why do government entities immediately get RETARDED when an issue takes place in cyberspace instead in "THE REAL WORLD".

If this bill passes, the State Assembly of New Jersey are a bunch of Asshats.

Law Professors Bid to use Freedom of Speech to Muzzle Military Recruiters Fails

Score a sensible ruling for SCOTUS

Leave it to the legal beagles of the beleaguered left to say that allowing a group to speak its piece is a violation of their right to freedom of speech. Of course that just goes with their whole notion that the constitution is a "living document", a.k.a that it means whatever they want it to mean at a given moment.

From the pen of CJ Roberts: "A military recruiter's mere presence on campus does not violate a law school's right to associate, regardless of how repugnant the law school considers the recruiter's message."

No kidding. If you don't like military policy, Oh ye noble law professors, why don't you use the 1st amendment to speak out against it?

That would make FAR to much sense wouldn't it. Much easier to file legal challenges with the constitutional weight of a Harlequin romance novel.

Line Item Veto?

Bush requests Line Item Veto

I'm of two minds about the line item veto. The fiscal conservative in me says maybe its a good thing, enabling the president to cut spending on the useless pork that the congress loads down every bill with. Especially since it will enable the president to cut out items that they congress tries to sneak through on the most important bills, like troop supply expenditures.

The constitutionalist part of me says that the line item veto is an over extension of the President's veto power. It is the congress' purpose to legislate, not the President's. The president, as executive, is supposed to carry out that legislation. To often the Congress sits on its hands, waiting around for the President to propose legislation. That's completely bass-ackward. They sit around complaining that the president hasn't done enough about X,Y, or Z. When its their job to legislate. It seems like the only thing they do bother to legislate are absurd pork projects for their home state, in time to get re-elected. And i'm not just talking about this particular congress, but the momentum of the institution itself.

Iran,Iraq, and Us

Excellent Interview

We should not be losing. I don't mean militarily, where reports seem to suggest we're doing okay, with the Iraqi Brigades doing alright. Our problems, increasingly are coming from organizations co-opted by the Iranians and their Revolutionary Guard.

The interview lays out exactly what needs to be done. 1. Hit them. I know we can get intelligence on where these guys are crossing the border with their weapons and money. Task spec-ops teams with hitting these transports. What are the Iranians gonna do complain? (Ray, if you're reading this. Gimme a comment on how you think our guys might organize such an operation.)

Iranian Ambassador to the UN: "We'd like to file a formal complaint. The Americans are killing our agents running guns and money into Iraq, stopping our efforts to overthrow the UN sanctioned government."
Actually, given the UN, that might work.

Step 2, also outlined in the Interview: Start doing our own co-opting. I know I know, the worst of the left will bitch and moan. But since they are doing that already anyway, who cares? CIA will have to be careful as they do this, but they technically have the experience. They did, after all, manage to keep Italy non-communist, by funding non-communist parties and instructing them on how to win elections against the parties who were owned by the Soviets. (that comes to mind particularly because I was reading Playboy's interview with William Colby, former director of CIA, thanks for letting me borrow that Adam)

The interview mentions Poland as an example of how we can undermine Iran, but I think we did a pretty poor job supporting Solidarity. We flew in a few printing presses, and money to run them. But that's it. We need to do a full court press on the Ayatollahs. Labor unions, peaceful demonstration groups, opposition political groups, they all need money, printing presses, methods of organizing. otherwise they'll get shut down. Sat phones, printing presses, internet servers, and money to operate them, they are all cheaper than a few guided bunker busters.

Suicide Bombing as Iran's Ideology

From the Always Fascinating RegimeChangeIran

Reviewing this article, I've become more cemented in my belief that there can be no negotiating with Iran.

Iran isn't advancing its interest with terrorism.

Iran's interest IS Terrorism.

It is the inevitable nature of totalitarian regimes that their methods of achieving power, and their reason for achieving power eventually meld, until there is no distinquishing difference between objective and method. In the beginning, the Iranian state utilized terror networks to come to power and survive the transition into power. Now the purpose of its power is to utilize terror networks.

Those, Like Pat Buchanan, who we chastised yesterday, who think that the regime can be contained like the Soviet Union are misreading the situation entirely. The Soviet Totalitarian regime utilized the terrors of the secret police against their own people, repeatedly "purging" themselves. This gave them a largely internal focus. Therefore their imperial designs took on a reasonable "realist" approach, as expansion was meant to maintain parity, so they could continue their re-ordering of their society. (and by all means spread it to other societies).

The Iranians are not like this. They are more like the Nazi regime. Their enemies are percieved to be external. (though jews resided inside Germany, they were the ultimate outsiders, rather than a part of the state. So in annhiliating the jews, the Nazis were destroying an external enemy, not purging themselves.) It was the nature of the Nazi regime to go to war. Success only emboldened them to continue on to another war.

So too with the Iranians. The destruction of Israel, the United States, and the West, are all external targets. The Iran regime will never relent.

Shout out to Arhaus

The DKrepublic wants to give a shout out to the University of Arhaus. Apparently we've had some viewers from the library there. We appreciate the attention, especially from an international audience, and especially from the embattled nation of the Danes. Whether its a fluke from the fact that DK is the internet url designator for Danish sites, or whether we got noticed by posts we've made about the Cartoon war, and links we've made to other sites, we don't know. Either way. Welcome.

Battle Plans

Iran's Plan to Close the Straits

This is fascinating. It echos exactly the predictions of my International Relations Professor Uri Ra'naan, in a scenario we played out as a learning exercise.

The Other Front

Oh but ignore those two posts. Pat Buchanan says there isn't anything to worry about. So forget about the Middle East. Pat knows better.

After all, Dictators never mean what they say...

Somebody Gets It! (and Viva La Revolucion)

In Europe.

There is nothing MORE RACIST, than the pandering and pathetic notion that some cultures cannot be liberal, (in the traditional sense), or the idea that all cultures are some how of equal value.

I find all cultures fascinating, and their history and development can be appreciated and respected. But on the only rubric that matters, that of the advancement of individual freedom, some cultures fail. They don't have to fail. They are not conditioned to failure.

The Anti-American crowd opposes our efforts here by pointing out our own failures. This is like saying that the B+ student shouldn't tutor the one getting an F.

The mistake of the "Realists" is the belief that America's interests rely on economics, trade, and geo-political outcomes. So they make alliances with dictators, when the status quo is deemed of value, and they overthrow burgeoning democracies when they are deemed disruptive.

The ONLY interest of America is Freedom. It is freedom which has made us rich, it is liberty which has made us powerful. The only allies on which we have ever been able to trust have been free states, all dictatorships are our enemies, whether they are the enemy of our enemy or not.

The college professors in their ivory towers, and the college students smoking dope in their street protests need to realize that their faded, dying leftist ideology is not revolutionary.

Liberalism (real liberalism) was revolutionary in 1776, and its still the only creed that is revolutionary today.
